The Ten Steps to Success with Internet Marketing. Part 2

Today we will continue with the Ten Steps. Yesterday I discussed the first Five Steps. Scroll down if you have missed it.

6. NEVER SELL.... BUT TELL

Why? People hate it when you try to sell them something. We are daily bombarded with millions of offers and frankly we have become immune to advertising, most of us. We have to blank it out to protect ourselves. So do not even try to sell your product or service to anybody. You might ask me what am I doing in this blog? Go back read it again. I am not selling you anything. For a start, The SpiderWeb Marketing System is not for sale. You can have it for free if you ask me politely. I am trying to tell you how you can catch a fish to feed your family and how you can teach your subscribers to catch fish to feed their families.

Tell your prospective clients how you have achieved success in your business and offer to show them how you have done it. They will then beg you for your secret and buy into the system of their own free will. Tip. Never use banners on your site to advertise, but write about the product and tell your reader what you have gained from using the product or service. Even list the one thing that you personally do not like about the product. They will still buy it because they will trust you and think that if you are still using it, it must be very good after all.

And it is, but I personally do not feel that the help you receive in The SpiderWeb Marketing System to market the system is enough to cater for the people with a limited advertising budget. We all know that you must be prepared to invest in a business to make it work. There is no business in the world that will pay you thousands of dollars if you are not prepared to invest at least some of your time. But we sit with people who are just starting out with a new business and they do not have money to invest right from the start. They still have their jobs so they do not have much spare time either. They are actually looking for some way to earn some money to build up a business.

It is exactly for these people that I have developed my Three Step Marketing System. It will help them to earn some money by investing some of their time. Once they earn enough, they can start to invest in the other programs to speed up the growth of their business. You can run these two systems perfectly in tandem and one will cross feed the other. Genius if I may say so myself.

7. AUTOMATE YOUR BUSINESS

How? When your list is still small and you have only a few members, it is still easy to communicate with them through telephone or email. Once your list starts to grow, you will find it very difficult to train all your team members on a one-on-one basis. You have to automate your system to grow your business. In Step 3 I will show you how I have automated my system with the help of my friend Scott Douglas. The affiliate marketing part is already taken care of in The SpiderWeb Marketing System as well as most of the basic training. You will learn how to use your own Squeeze Pages and AutoResponder to automate the Tree Step Marketing System.

Why does this system work? Basically all men and women, especially women are inquisitive. Forgive me ladies but my wife will nearly kill me if she thinks there is some juicy stuff that I know that I have not told her. We all know the saying: "Curiosity killed the cat" and we all know that cats have nine lives, or do they?

If people are curious enough, they will follow all your instructions to get to the cat or is it the catch? Sorry but I am veering off the point. The question was: "Why does it work so well?" I do not actually know, but I have such huge success with it, I only know that it does work.

8. ADD A SIGNATURE FILE TO YOUR EMAIL

How? Every email service may be different, but you should figure out how to do it. What I would like to tell you about is how to use it to advertise without advertising. Write your email message and tell about your excellent product or service but leave out any direct link to this great offer of yours. The tire kickers will delete your email and carry on in their happy way. But the real interested party will either reply to your email and inform you about your stupid mistake or look for another way to find out more. If you have a link to your web page in your signature file, they will click on this link. Now you have an interested person looking for more information on your product or service and you have the ideal opportunity to tell them all about it on your blog or web page.

Why this strange link? It is called a tracking link and you absolutely have to do tracking of your advertising to see what works. In Step 2 of my Three Step Marketing System you will learn how you can do it with a free program with very little effort. It will change everything you do in marketing and increase your traffic ten fold. When you know what is working, you can put all your effort into it and stop wasting your time with stuff that does not work. I even track this blog and can tell where you live and how long you have been reading this article. I have a record of each link that my visitors have clicked. With such information you can correct things that are not working and experiment to see what would work better. Know your tools and know your business and nothing can stop you from making a success.

9. WRITE ARTICLES FOR YOUR BLOG

How on earth can I write an article? I could never even write a letter in school. There the problem was that the teacher would tell you to write about stuff that you were not interested in. With your business blog it is completely different. You will write about stuff that really interests you. Stuff that you feel passionate about. If you would tell me a few years ago that I would write short articles about Internet Marketing, I would call you a liar. After making a study of this business and experimenting with a few programs, I have reached the stage where I feel that I can actually make a difference in people's lives. To me that is something more precious than making millions of dollars, although that would make my life a lot easier. Back to the subject. If you use the Three Step Marketing System, your team members will contact you in Step 2. They will tell you what they are doing and what problems they have. You will not have time to answer each one personally. You can answer their problems by writing articles on your blog and you can then combine several questions and even give answers to questions they have not even thought of. What I am doing here is answering most of the questions that I have gathered over the past few months.

If one person have a problem, you can be certain that there are hundreds with the same problem. Some might not have known what the problem was and others would be afraid to ask the question. People are often not prepared to ask questions in fear that others would think that they are stupid. I have come to the conclusion that it is just the other way around. I think it is stupid not to ask if you have a problem, then you might newer learn in the process. You could have sold several products if you have found a solution for your traffic problems earlier. Ask your questions, ask your upline, get a mentor and even go to Google and type in your question. You will be amazed at the information that is available. Tip. If you are not certain of a particular program or opportunity, find out who the developers are. Now type in their names in inverted commas into your search engine. Read what other people have written about them and you will soon find out if it will be worth your effort to join them or not.

When you have a solution to a problem, you will be seen as an expert and people will trust you because you are prepared to share your knowledge with them. They might even show more interest in what you have to offer.

10. LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS

How? Come back to my blog and see what else I can teach you. No seriously, learn everything you can about your business. Buy eBooks like "Stop Being a Victim" or "Google Cash". Search the Net for articles on your business. Make notes and keep a file with all the worthwhile stuff. The one thing that I learned in an early stage was to get organized. You cannot run a business if you are constantly searching for things. Create separate folders in your [My Documents] for each program that you use. Create a file that you keep handy on your desktop with all your affiliate links. Or even better, get a program with which you can make tracking links, then you would have all your links in one place as well.

Learn how to use an AutoResponder effectively. Learn how to write proper ads or emails. Learn how to check your spelling and grammar. It makes a poor impression if your email or blog is full of spelling mistakes or poor grammar. Yes I would be very glad if you would point out all my mistakes. I am still learning, you are never too old to learn new things.

My fingers are starting to complain. I have never been good at typing and I have to go now. Hope my effort is of some use to you and thank you for taking the time to read my stuff.

1. CREATE A MAILING LIST

Why do we Struggle so much to Motivate our Downline?

Hi this is Matt Maré,

Today I would like to discuss the issue of motivation in Multi Level Marketing or Network Marketing. Every day hundreds or even thousands of people sign up for several MLM business opportunities. Only a fraction of these people will continue to step two. I have had people signing up to join my business and then they never confirm their subscription. There can be many reasons. Maybe they typed in their email address incorrectly or the confirmation email landed in their bulk email or they just do not check their email regularly. This can be the reason for 5-10% not confirming their subscription, but sometimes less than 40% of your signups will confirm their subscription. There must be another reason for these people not to confirm their subscription.

Several times I have tried to send them a reminder that they have to confirm before they can receive any more information, but to no avail. Why would people take the trouble to fill in their name and email address for more information on a business opportunity and then when they have to just click on a link to confirm, would they not do it? Do they have second thoughts or have they forgotten what it was about in the first place? These are question that cannot be answered with a single answer.

Today people are getting more and more afraid to give their real name and email address to anyone on the Internet. Who can blame them? Once you give your email address, you are bombarded with lots of email offers that fill your mailbox daily. They are also afraid of identity theft, or they have been scammed so many times that they will trust no-one. I do not know what can be done to alleviate this problem for real people with real business opportunities. The only thing that you can do is to be open in what you tell people about your business and to ask them politely to please look for their confirmation email immediately. Tell them exactly what the subject line of the email will be and where they have to click in the email.

The clearer your message is, the better your results will be. However try not to be pushy or saying things in such a way that your client would feel that you are treating them like babies.
Just tell them the exact procedure in a polite way so that they will know what to expect. The same goes when you contact them once they do confirm their subscription. I hate it when someone tells me how fast I must fill in the forms and how I must do this and then that. Try to build up a relationship with your clients before you try to coach them. Rather tell them of all the mistakes you made when you started using the system and they will much more appreciate your advice when they realise that you are human and can also make mistakes.

When you have a good system, you need not have to push your prospects at all, you just have to guide them when they need help. I have found such a system in The SpiderWeb Marketing System. I just welcome the new subscribers and guide them along and they then sign up for the twelve free income streams. The training videos are so clear that you very seldom have to coach your subscribers. With such a great system it makes your life so easy and it is not difficult to motivate your subscribers.

This is Matt again and I would like to look at Internet Marketing today from a different angle. We all know that to market on the Internet have it's own challenges. The biggest problem for most marketers is to get targeted traffic to their web pages. There are several ways to advertise on the Internet but it is really becoming more difficult by the day. The hype on the Internet is causing the web visitors to become more and more sceptical of what they see. There are so many scams and people have been bitten so many times that they are too scared to even give their emails to anyone anymore. This is making it very difficult for the normal marketer to get his product in front of the correct eyes often enough.

The one thing that I have learned in my marketing career is that you can immediately see when some-one is trying too hard to sell you something. I think it is the number one mistake that most newcomers are making. It puts people off when you sell directly to them, but they will readily accept your advice on a certain issue if they perceive you as the expert on the subject. Now you would ask me how it is possible to be the expert on everything. That is not what you need to be, but you normally are the expert on your product or service. If you are not selling your own product, but you are an affiliate for someone else's product, then you must become an expert on that product. You just cannot sell something that you know nothing about.

The best thing to do when you are an affiliate, is to buy the product yourself. I know you normally try to sell the most expensive products to make the most commission, but do not see it as a cost, but as an investment in your business. Only when you have first hand experience of a product or service, can you help your client to make the right choice. As an affiliate marketer you even have a choice of which product you want to sell. So look at all the competitors in the market and also buy the one that you think is the best competitor. Now you have an unique opportunity to compare the products or services. Don't you think you now have more ammunition to help your client make the best choice. You see that with a little effort you can become the expert in your field. Believe me that your customers will immediately see it in your advertising and in your service that you provide them. You will see the difference in your bottom line soon as well.

It does pay to make a study of your products when you would like to be a successful Internet Marketer. You can even tell your prospective clients of the shortcomings of your product and they will see you as a trustworthy person and your back end sales will increase. Build trust and be honest in everything you do, and you will stand out above the crowd that is only in the game to make a fast buck. Integrity and honesty are things that no-one can buy, you have to earn it, so make certain that you do.

I do not ever promote programs other than those that I have personally tried and tested. Today I have two programs that are very similar in that they both have funded advertising and multiple streams of income, but what most impresses me, is that they are built with integrity by people you can trust. The first is more aggressive in it's approach to marketing while the second is based on solid old hard labour to get the job done. Have a look at both of them and choose the one that better suit your style. To tell you the truth, I am running them in tandem. But more about that at a later date.

I have a Friend in Internet Marketing and he is a Farmer.

This friend of mine is also from South Africa and he has a beautiful farm not far from where I live. If you look at his animals and his family, you would think him to be a very happy person. But like all of us, he has his problems. They have three children with the eldest boy already in University. The other two would soon finish with school and because they are bright kids, they will also want to go to University.

When I went to University in 1977, it only cost me R600 ($75) per year and the total for four years was R2400 ($300) which I had to borrow. My begin salary as young engineer was R800/month and I could repay my loan within one year. Today I also have a daughter at University studying Fine Arts. Her yearly fee is R12500 ($1563) and her accommodation is R1500 ($188) per month, thus another R18000 ($2250) per year plus travelling cost and other expenses of at least R10000 ($1250). Thus you have a total of R40500 ($5063) per year times four years is R162000 ($20250). To borrow this kind of money will take you a long time to repay your loan. As engineer I earn about R120000 ($15000) per year and the interest rate in South Africa is 15% at the moment and steadily increasing at about ½% per quarter.

To come back to my friend, he will have three children at University within a few years and even with a fully stocked farm, it will be very difficult for them to afford it. At the same time the fuel prices are increasing at an alarming rate and that have an effect on most of the other input costs like transport and fertilizer, etc. For the past few years the value of wool, mohair and meat have basically stayed the same and have not kept pace with inflation at all. To say the least, not a rosy picture at all.

I have been supplementing my income with Internet marketing for a while now. The other day we discussed his situation and mine and he got really excited when he saw the potential income that he could have for a very low investment. His farm and stock is worth millions of Rand but he has a profit of only a few thousand each year. If he would invest less than a $1000, he would be able to earn much more than he could from his farm. It will not happen overnight, but it will not take years either.
