Online Marketing Success Served on a Platter.

To run a successfully online business you need the following:

A - A Good Product to Sell that Everybody Wants.

B - Money or Time for Advertising.

C - The Right Tools for Automation.

A. Your Product.

Let us assume that you have this Product, because at the end of this article, you will have a product that more than 90% of the Internet population wants. When you have a good product, you need a web page from where you can sell this product. To have a web site, you need to register a domain name and then you need a company that will host your site for you. Most so-called gurus will tell you to go to GoDaddy to get your domain name. There are far better ways to register your domain name, ways in which you can get paid to do it. Yes, you understand me. They will pay you when you register your domain name and they will host your web site for free. We will come to the how in just a while.

But first we have to look at the importance of your domain name. You should spend some time on deciding what it should be. If you choose it correctly, it can have a huge benefit later when you have to market your product. This name should be short and easy to remember or it should say something about the top benefit of your product. Your product can be an eBook, software program, marketing system or some kind of Internet service. You can use hyphens in your domain name, but try to keep it short. You can also consider your name as your domain name. This can have several benefits if your name is suitable.

A good name is the first step in your marketing strategy which we will come to next.

B. Advertising of Your Product.

First we will look at some free advertising options. There are quite a lot available, but I will touch on only a few that has worked well for me.

1. Set Up Your Signature File.

This is one of the easiest ways and often surprisingly effective ways of advertising. If you are not using it yet, set it up immediately. Here is a suggestion to kill two flies at once:

To your success, ...........Positive way to end your letter.

Triple your List ............ An affiliate link or special offer.

When you receive emails with offers of products or opportunities that you are not interested in, do not just delete them. Look and see if the sender has used his email address or and autoresponder. When he has used his personal email address, reply and thank them for the information and your signature file will do the rest. They might open your email and see your link and click on it. Free advertising and you also counter spam. They cannot accuse you of spamming, because they have contacted you first, most of the time without your consent.

2. Comment on Blogs or in Forums.

Make a relevant or informative comment on a blog or forum and include your link without advertising. If your comment is interesting, people might be curious to see what you are doing and click on your link. Again you get a free visitor to your site. Sometimes those comments can stay up for several weeks and bring you leads for a long time. If you choose the forum to be in line with what you offer, these leads can be well targeted. The more targeted your traffic is, the better your chances are of making a sale.

A second benefit of this practice is that you will have inbound links to your site from all over the world. Search engines will pick this up and index your site which will lead to more free traffic from the search engines. More traffic to your site will mean a higher ranking with the search engines.

3. Use Social Networking Sites.

With these sites you are allowed to set up a user profile and web link. You can also build contact list or friend lists. Once you have established a relationship with these people you can introduce them to your product. Again the link will have the same benefits like with Blogs or forums. The one that I use for business contacts is DirectMatches and I use Yuwie to make some friends as well as TokSee. Here you can upload audio, photo albums or video files to make your profile interesting. You will be amazed to see how many people will visit and comment on your profile. It is a great opportunity for free advertising if you do it unobtrusively. People hate it when they are sold to openly. Just mention what some benefits of your product without loud banners. They will click on your web link if they are interested.

4. Set up Your Own Blog.

Search engines love Blogs and you can build up your name as an expert in your field. Post regular articles with good content that will be of use to people. If you can solve a few problems of your readers, you will rise in their opinion and they might become real interested in what you are offering. In the process of posting articles with lots of keywords relevant to your product, the search engine spiders will pick it up and they will send you visitors looking for information on your product. This is real targeted visitors that will boost your business.

Put an opt-in box on your blog for people who want more information on your product. In this way you can build your list with leads that have not even bought from you. You can always offer them something different at a later stage and then they might become customers. It also gives you more time to build a relationship with them. It is much easier to sell something to someone that know and trust you, than to a total stranger.

5. Use Traffic Exchanges.

Normally these are not very effective if you try to sell your main product here. People are only interested to earn credits so that they can advertise their products. If you give them what they are looking for, that is more traffic, and then it is a different story. You can use it as a means to get real free traffic to your web site, but in an indirect way. I use TE Profits and ViralVital to achieve this. TE Profits make use of an ingenious way to fund your advertising and your autoresponder. The one that I use is TrafficWave which is a fully fledged autoresponder with even it own built in traffic generator at a very affordable price. Your own autoresponder is just an essential tool for effective Internet Marketing without which you will not reach your ultimate goal of automation.

6. Pay per Click Advertising.

Now we come to the not so free marketing called pay per click advertising. Here I have been using Google AdWords with great success. It gives you fast and super targeted traffic to your web site. Sometimes I would receive the first clicks while I am still setting up my advertising campaign. Please note that this is not for beginners and you can loose your shirt in a very short time if you do not have the proper training to use it.

It can be very expensive and I would advice you to first read Perry Marshall's book "The Definitive Guide to Google AdWords" or at least visit my free web pages called Google Success. Here I will give you more detailed help to plan your campaign properly and to get traffic at the lowest rate. One tip I can give you here is to look at Google's Content adverts more closely. Sometimes you can get just as many clicks there at half the cost of the Search adverts.

C. Automation of Your Internet Marketing Business.

This is the fun part of Internet Marketing and I love it because I like playing with all kinds of tools. It must be my Engineering background that makes me so interested in these online tools. For my Google campaigns I even use a program that can predict your success even before you make one sale. It has saved me thousands of dollars in my marketing and it is called Conversion Prophet. It will also show you which keywords will convert and which ones will just waste your money. You can also split test different Sales Pages to see which convert better. It will even show you where you can improve your Sales Page, be it the heading, its body or the payment handling.

My favorite program is the free Squeeze Page Generator with which I capture my leads and feed them to my AutoResponder. This is quite a nifty program that even offers my leads a free eBook just for typing in their details. You can even use it do a survey and ask your leads questions. The most obvious use is to build your list with it and all of you have heard the saying that the money is in the list.
