Some facts about the author.
MHW Maré

Born in a little
town called Bedford in South Africa on 7 July 1954
Grew up on a sheep
farm in the district of Somerset East.
Went to the local
farm school at Klipfontein
(Stone Fountain)
for the first seven years.
From 1968 he went
to the Marlow Agricultural High School near Cradock.
Finished school
in 1972 as Dux student of the school.
Did military training
in the mounted section of the Infantry during 1973
Ran the farm with
his father till 1976
Went to the University
of Pretoria in 1977 to study Agricultural Engineering.
Normally it is
a five year course, but he completed his studies in four years.
Obtained his BSc
Eng (Agric) in 1980 and started to work at MBB Consulting Agricultural
Engineers in 1981
Got married to
his wife Martha Rupping from Upington on 21 January 1979
They had four children,
a son Paul born on 25 April 1981, a daughter Wilmien born on 23 November
1982, another daughter Sorita born on 29 August 1984 and a son Stefan
born on 21 November 1986
Unfortunately their
eldest daughter died on 28 September 2003 when she was killed when she
crossed the street in Johannesburg where she was studying as an Architect.
The two sons are
running a computer business called M&M Computers in Cradock.
The remaining daughter
is studying Fine Art at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in
Port Elizabeth and is in her final year in 2008
Matt has worked
the last five years as an Irrigation Specialist designing mainly drip
irrigation.
Hobbies are reading
and Internet Marketing and his wife does needle work - she make most
of his shirts and trousers and her and her daughter's clothes.
For holidays they
go to Mozambique where they do Missionary work as Christians.
